The recipe for home-made candies is really simple and everyone can create their own flavor variations!

When I was a kid, my grandma was always waiting for me to come back home with a bowl of colorful hard candies. I remember that this was the best part of the day and I would munch on them until my jaws dropped. As they say, the taste of your childhood will follow you for the rest of your life. And that is very much true. I still love sucking those hard candies whenever I have them around. But why would we buy them from grocery stores, full of unhealthy and unreadable substances if we can make our own colorful and tasty ones at home! The recipe for home-made candies is really simple and everyone can create their own flavor variations! I say, my favorite ones are liquorice!

First, prepare a baking paper and place it into a small pan. Put sugar and water in a saucepan and stir it all the time until it starts boiling. When you reach this point, cover it and let it boil for 3-5 minutes. Then remove the cover and put a candy thermometer into the mixture. Remember at this point not to stir anymore. Wait until the temperature reaches 155 degrees and take it away from the stove. (Useful tip: If you don't have a thermometer you can take a glass with cold water, drop a few drops of the boiling mixture into the cold water and if it freezes immediately and breaks when twisting it, you are ready to proceed!) Let it stay for 30 sec – 1 min, then put the food coloring and drops of Laqu and stir. After that, pour the mixture of homemade hard candies into the pan with baking paper and let it be there for about 4 minutes so that it is not too hard because we need to cut the mixture into shapes, with the help of kitchen scissors. Using powdered sugar, dust your candies so they don't stick to each other and voila!

Home-made hard candies are, contrary to the common belief, very easy and fast to make. In the case of emergency – make the best liquorice hard candies and enjoy your own sweets whenever you feel like it! You can take them with you to work or for a walk, so they are always there when you need them!
